Al Pacino

Chief, Acrylic on canvas 54 x 40 2010

“Al Pacino is an indian chief but is not an indian.”–G

Giovanni paints a Native American chief engulfed in a movement of lines. The arched lines surrounding his face resemble a traditional native american headdress. His facial expression is stereotypically stoic. Throughout history people have been taking advantage of native americans and their sacred land. It is a current issue that still persists today, most recently with the Dakota Pipeline Protests. This portrait is for all the indigenous people and a reminder to respect them.
