Enigma Dali

Enigma Dali, Acrylic on canvas 68 x 58 2012

“He is the artist that I am most like.”–G

What is the expression in Dalí’s eyes? They say the eyes are a window to the soul. Here in his eyes you can start to see the inner workings of Dali’s mind and soul. These are eyes that burn and shine in the dark. Flowers burst out from his mustache and merge into the background, expressing the creativity inside him. There is an electricity that radiates out of the canvas, as if it can not be contained within conventional bounds. Giovanni’s love of popular signs are also present: fire exit, walking symbol, an arrow, conveying underlying meanings. In this portrait his spirit has fused with that of the surrealist.
