Miami Lights, Acrylic on canvas 56 x 36
“Miami is a lot like New York it never sleeps.” -G
The spirit of Miami is within the painting. At the bottom are the nightclubs, swabs of black, with red swirls of light. The center of gold is pummeled with wet comets of silver and white, resembles the commercial district, overrun with tourists, the blinking of advertisements, the commerce of coins and lottery. At last I walked toward the bay, where there was the hint of aquamarine, blueness like sky, and the coherence as when you finally make out a pattern in the wilderness of jazz. Here indeed were the lights of Miami, so vivid and torrid that they seem to approach you, criss-crossing your eye like so many thoughts.
